Muay Thai/Thai Boxing [Kickboxing] Training Goals - By Snake Blocker
Although different clubs and organizations use different ranking systems, this will give you a good idea of how a typical Training Goal Plan looks like:
I.M.T.S. Ranking
The International Muay Thai Society uses the following
modern Armband Ranking System:
Level 1 = Green Armband
Level 2 = Blue Armband
Level 3 = Gold Armband
Level 4 = Purple Armband
Level 5 = Orange Armband
Level 6 = Brown Armband
Level 7 = Black Armband
Level 8 = Tan Armband
Level 9 = White Armband
Level 10 = Red Armband
Levels 1 & 2 =
Apprentice
Levels 3 & 4 =
“Smoker” Fighter
Levels 5 & 6 =
License Amateur Fighter &
Assistant [“Smoker”] Instructor
Levels 7 & 8 =
License Professional Fighter &
Basic [Amateur] Instructor
Levels 9 & 10 =
License Second (Corner-man) &
Full [Professional] Instructor
Level 1 = 60
hours of training (minimum age 16 years) – 3 months/5 hours per week
Level 2 = 120
hours of training – 6 months/5 hours per week
Level 3 = 220
hours of training – 11 months/5 hours per week
Level 4 = 320
hours of training – 16 months (1 year/4 months)/5 hours per week
Level 5 = 460
hours of training – 23 months (1 year/11 months)/5 hours per week
Level 6 = 600 hours
of training – 30 months (2 years/6 months)/5 hours per week
Level 7 = 780
hours of training – 39 months (3 years/3 months)/5 hours per week
Level 8 = 960
hours of training – 48 months (4 years)/5 hours per week
Level 9 = 1,180 hours of training – 59 months (4
years/11 months)/5 hours per week
Level 10 = 1,400
hours of training – 70 months (6 years/10 months)/5 hours per week
